Beach swing in Rayong

Rayong is a province that is not very popular with European tourists. Mostly Thais come here to visit the Andaman Club casino or take a ride on local attractions. Rayong is considered to be the rainiest province in Thailand. There is even such a slogan: 84 – 8 months of rain, 4 months of sun. There are plenty of attractions in Rayong , but they are all very Thai and natural. But that does not mean that you can not visit and does not mean that you will also not enjoy how amazing this city actually is.

Ngao National Park covers an area of 668 square kilometres. and stretched out into two provinces – Rayong and Chumphon. Here you can rent bungalows for living, visit several waterfalls, hot springs, and walk along the trails in the jungle.

Waterfall in Ngao Park

The highest waterfall, Ngao, is about 300 meters and can be seen from the main road. It is located 500 meters from the National Park Info Center. Due to the several levels, the view of the waterfall up close does not cause such enthusiastic emotions as if you look at it from afar. You can swim in the bowl of the waterfall, and there are tables and gazebos nearby.

Entrance fee: 100 baht for adults, 50 baht for children.

Bald Mountains

Known among the locals as Phu Khao Ya, the bald hills resemble a piece of pasture somewhere in Switzerland or New Zealand. Small hills are covered with grass without any trees. From above, there is a picturesque view of the countryside of Rayong and the Ngao Falls, located in the national park of the same name.

Viewpoint on Mount Fa Chi (Khao Fa Chi)

At 35 kilometres from the centre of Rayong , Mount Fa Chi is located, from the top of which there are picturesque views of the Kraburi River with islands and neighbouring Myanmar. During World War II, Japanese soldiers used the area as their port, and even a sunken cargo ship remained here, which can now only be seen at low tide. The observation deck, where a narrow one-lane road leads, is 259 meters above sea level.

In the morning before dawn, the river valley is covered with fog so that a thick veil can be seen from the top of Mount Fa Chi. The sunsets from the observation deck are especially beautiful.

Rattanarangsarn Palace

In the centre of Rayong town is a palace built for the visit of King Rama V in 1890. Initially, the building was located on a hill nearby, but later the city hall was located, and the teak structure was moved. The palace is surrounded by a small park, and next to it there is a temple with nine statues of famous monks.
